I spent that much on a cup of coffee each morning, so I didn't really think twice about grabbing this as from what I was able to see, it looked like a really good tate shooter (vertical scrolling\/shoot'em up). Did I get my monies worth?A resounding YES!As some of you on my friends list might of guessed, I am a fan of Space Invaders. It was one of the first games I had my hands on when I was still only a baby macroni in the late 80's early 90's, that along with other classic's like Duck Hunt, PacMan and Mario, filled my childhood with joy. I found the Raiden series mid 90's along with Star Fox and it was around that time I realized I just love shooters. This game is a love letter to dudes like me. It's amazingly polished for being so cheap, almost to the point where it's creepy. The music is awesome, the gameplay is awesome, the animations are awesome, the hit box detection is super tight and accurate, there is a plethora of permanate upgrades to unlock just by playing, the attention to detail to each level, each boss and it's stages is again.. awesome. The artwork screams 90's saturday morning cartoons, I sometimes swear I hear Skeletor in the background sometimes laughing. I litterally have no idea why this game isn't more popular.The difficulty is average. I wouldn't say it's overly hard, it does force you to pay attention like most games of this genre but you can easily start cheesing if you pump a lot of unlocks into your profile. Kind of leaves it up to you and how hard or easy you want your game to be. I welcome that!The only con's I have which I don't even consider really a "con" because seriously, I got this game for $4.50.. it's criminal to say anything bad about it considering how fun it ended up being but I know people don't really like "fanboy" opinions so here's the skinny. There is an issue with monitors over 60ghz, if your like me with a 144ghz monitor, you'll need to knock it down to 60 in the control panel, no biggie. Character specific lore unlocks are just plain silly but maybe that's a positve? There is not much a story and the voice acting while actually not that bad sometimes skips subtitles that pop up. Everyone should have this game in their library. If you are a fan of games like Raiden, Starfox, Ikaruga, Skyforce, Space Invaders, Rive, ect. that has a lot of meat, great soundtrack, killer 90's cartoon throwback art and tight gameplay mechanics, you are in for a treat! Top it off, this game has online leaderboards with full replays of each high score, if your into that kind of thing. Do yourself a favor, buy this game, support these dev's and hopefully someday we get a sequel. -ZA. Only playable with keyboard or controller.. this is a great STG, I like the music and rhythm.. I love shoot em ups and this looked really polished, similar to games like sky force reloaded. As it was in the sale i picked it up and wow im glad i did. The graphics are so clean! It has the perfect balance and depth in terms of difficulty curve and ranking up your characters. If you love shooters like sky force, jamestown etc you will love this. I will be putting in alot of hours into this game to try and get all the achievements.. One of the best shmups i´ve ever played <3. AngerForce: Reloaded is a bullet hell shmup. There's a lot of these games glutting the Steam store. Not as many as there are retro pixel 2D platformers, but enough of them that it takes a lot to stand above the rest. AngerForce manages to do this. I was quite surprised to see 4K support and customisable controls among the other comprehensive settings that a PC gamer would expect to see. The developers hired artists instead of churning out retro pixel graphics, giving the game a tolerable, stylised look. Gameplay is smooth, frenetic, but manages to still be forgiving, providing a nice balance between demanding skill and survivability. Enemies shoot in interesting, compelling patterns. The boss fights are challenging in the way you might expect. A selection of different player ships, and an upgrade progression system help round out the game. The levels and enemies are varied and have their own flavour. When a game comes together and all the elements harmonise, the feel of the game exceeds the sum of its parts, and that's the feeling I got. While I'm tempted to not recommend any game trying to cash in on nostalgia by using old, retired formats (platformers, lazy JRPGs, 2D games in general), AngerForce: Reloaded is a striking exception of high quality, which succeeds where the vast majority fail at capturing the spirit of 1990's shmups. If you like this genre, then this game should not be overlooked.. only keyboard or controller? too bad it looked great.. And please please maybe new Characters!?Superb gameplay and scoresystem.. The artwork and design is excellent. There is a crisp, sharp and fluid presentation but gameplay is far too fast and unforgiving. There is zero explanation on how things work. Yes, there is a tutorial but the tips flash on the screen for about 2 seconds making it impossible to read and thus giving the new and inexperienced player no idea as to how the mechanics actually work.Slow it all down, make it more informative and clear as to how it all works and the game would be one of the best 2D shoot 'em ups on steam - perhaps even enough to rival Bullet Heaven 2 or the Sky Force games.
